This is the duty tariff on imported items during arrival at Dhaka Airport.


The list is effective from 10th of June 2010
Please feel free to comment in the section if you have got an even a more updated version of this list. Thanks.

I have acquired this information from the "National Board Of Revenue" and also from the declaration form upon my trip to Bangladesh last June. 


Normally importing goods listed below are really hassle free. Last June on my way back to Bangladesh, I brought a 55 inch Samsung LED 3d TV and the process of paying the tax was quite unexpectedly smooth. Upon Arrival I took my TV to the X-Ray Machine and there were some officer standing by told me to take it to another desk for clearing the tax. Which I did and I was given a form and was told to pay 100 K for the tv to a bank (which was already inside in the Airport and was just 1 minute walk) And after that I handed back the receipt to the officer which I got from the bank and "WALAH" I was out of the Airport. 


It was really simple. 


The main reason for me to put this information up in the internet is because I know how frustrating it can be for someone to not been able to find customs duty information as simple as this on the internet. 


So this is for all the people who wants to or thinking of bringing their nice as TV or the Home Theatre system to Bangladesh.

    Are these charges applicable regardless the number of bags you carry? e.g. according to http://biman-airlines.com/, any Bangladesh citizen should be able to carry two luggage below 32 KG each without any customs fees.

    Would appreciate if you could answer in details.

    however, the increase in cost's of tax is quite a bit more. I hope the site is not up to date...but considering the higher tax, it sounds like it could be up to date prices.

      I think it would be better for you to pay it in BDT, otherwise they might rip you off if you pay it in foreign currency. If you have an international debit card, you can withdraw money through ATM which is inside the airport and more conveniently right beside the place where you have to pay the tax.

    Hello there, I am a Bangladeshi currently studying abroad, i plan to visit Bangladesh within a month or so. I was wondering whether i can bring along with me my BB gun rifle(which i'll be carrying in my main luggage not the cabin luggage) and pass through customs without any problems. the customs authority mentioned a tax of 5000tk on Air guns but the one im bringing is a BB gun, nonetheless taxes i can clear either way.       So weird. A 46'' LED TV can be bought with 50000 Taka and duty fee is 50000 Taka? Seems 100% or more tax or vat? If someone bought a 53'' TV with 80000 tk and has to pay 100000 tk at the airport, does it sound reasonable? Tax/ vat should be based on the price of the product (TV), not based on the size of the TV. Custom authority must amend the rate and make a realistic one.

    After seeing the tax list on this site, I have bought a 40" LCD TV and travelled to Dhaka. But at Dhaka airport they told me the tax is 30,000 taka instead of 20,000. Some how I have managed extra 10,000 taka. It is a big hassle for travelers. Authority should update the website time to time.

    I was wondering buy a air gun from Canada to Bangladesh ! saw in number 10. custom 5000T.K still just not sure .is there any hidden other things ? ( I do have fire arms permit in Canada ) if any body know the way very well , please help me out ! don`t want to take a risk :email :
